“You are limited only by yourself, whenever you say you can or cannot do something, you are right either way.”

Imagine one morning you wake up, and are craving a pizza but you are in a new city and don’t know where to get it (Let’s assume its ancient times, no Google – I know, scary, but stay with me). You have no idea where you want to go so you just walk aimlessly until you see a place that sells food. You are hungry and tired, you know you want the pizza but this food is available right now so you settle for it and eat.

After paying, you learn that there is an Italian restaurant about 100m away with the pizza you wanted. So annoying! Your dreams are like the pizza. If you want to achieve them you need to see them, visualize them and plan a route to get to them. You cannot live the life of your dreams by just going with the flow, you need to Dream – Plan – Do.

Secure the BHAG

BHAG- Big Hairy Audacious Goal

A BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) is a clear and compelling target for an organization to strive for. The term was originally coined in the book “Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies” by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras. BHAGs are meant to excite and energize people toward achieving the ultimate goal of a company.

In today’s world, everybody is a company so we all need a personal BHAG. What is the ultimate goal of your life? What do you want to do with your life? Do not limit your mind when you think of your BHAG. No matter how big and scary it looks when you first think of it, if it popped up in your mind it means you can do it. You might need some help but it is for you.

Any planning you do for the future regardless of what it is, is a goal. Small tasks account as sub-goals and while seeming insignificant these goals all add up to the ultimate goal of securing the BHAG. The first thing you need to do is break down the BHAG into smaller manageable goals that can be achieved in the near future. We will show you how in our Dream – Plan – Do Series.
